We are now just over one month away until the biggest event on Surrey’s business calendar gets underway. The prestigious Toast of Surrey Business Awards returns on the 27 June and will bring together the region’s best businesses and entrepreneurs.

The UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity, Lord’s Taverners, are committed to supporting local business and have come on board as the awards’ official charity partners. Money raised at the event will go to the organisation to support their many initiatives that give young people who are disabled or disadvantaged a sporting chance.

Paul Robin is the Lord’s Taverners CEO, and he discussed why they decided to become official charity partners. He said: “The Toast of Surrey Business Awards provide a great platform to enable us to communicate the work we do for disadvantaged and disabled young people to a wider commercial and corporate audience, many of whom either professionally or personally may have first-hand experience of the sort of young people we are looking to support. One of the main benefits these awards bring to our organisation is communicating our message and potentially financial partners for our programmes.”

It isn’t just the large, established businesses who are in with a chance of winning one of the 14 categories at the awards, with awards on offer and open to companies of all sizes and from a range of different sectors. As well as acting as official charity partners, Lord’s Taverners have also partnered with the ‘Not-For-Profit Organisation Award.’

Paul also emphasised what benefits these awards bring to the region of Surrey. He said: “These awards provide the opportunity to bring recognition and raise the profile of some of the region’s best businesses. They also offer the chance for some of the leading businesses in the area to network, share ideas and thoughts and build a coherent community centred around Surrey.”

He continued: “The business community, like all communities, is stronger when working together. Recognising and celebrating success and learning from those examples bring improvement across the community which can only be to everyone’s mutual benefit.”

This year the Toast of Surrey Business Awards takes place at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge and will be hosted by TV comedian, Mark Dolan, and former British Olympian, Gail Emms MBE, who will ensure proceedings will run smoothly.
